A very kind gentleman who is helping me along the road of setting up a darkroom has generously given me his last batch of paper that he bought new over the years.

I'm sure some of you will recognise the various types and will have a chuckle at the price labels.

@pentaxpete has just shown that paper from 1967 is still showing well so I have hopes for some of these.

Enjoy and don't be too depressed by the prices :p20220406_184247.jpg

I too was helped by a very kind gentleman when I started setting up a darkroom who gave me, amongst other things, very old paper ( some of which I’m still using ). Out of several open packs, only one lot of about a dozen sheets was dead.
I reckon you will be fine with what you have there .
It will certainly give you a good start! ;)

That's quite a haul. I've got a load of darkroom paper that was given to me be a friend of a flickr contact many years ago; also when I bought my current enlarger a load more paper was thrown in. I'm planning to get through the stock of RC paper this year before moving on to the fibre paper.

YO !! you have a TREASURE there - a Genuine 'Original PROMICROL' developer !

Yes - double the film speed and half the grain. My dev of choice in the mid 70s

Are you thinking 1970's, Pete and David?

Any tips on prepping it (ratio's) given it's a little on the older side? I can run some test strips to check but suggested starting point would be appreciated. Looks to be unused and unopened.

I scanned what was left of my old set of instructions a while ago. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fqTfG8ttrYa0AhuvNSf-Cm3yxyEfwDej

You will notice these are not for current films and you will need to test as is old. Have fun using the nomograms to calculate Dev times. I used the dilution method where you used 85ml of stock and diluted to volume needed for tank. Then lay a ruler from that volume through listed stock Dev time and read off actual Dev time.

Thank you.
