We are looking to move the forums over at some point this week to our new hosting. Now as i actually sleep at night, unlike marcel, this will happen at some point in teh evening. Im hoping it will go like this:

Close these forums, a message will be up with the ip address of the new server for those who cant wait for DNS changes to filter round
the new forums will be closed while the database is ported in. Once installed the new forums will open.
The gallery will be borked for the first day or so, i cant fix this until the dns has propogated, so please bear with me on that, i will try my best to get it working as soon as possible.

thats it! I hope you will be patient while i fiddle, perhaps take a photo for the comp, or the challenges, or even talk to the spouse, should you have one! I will try and make it as painless as possible. :thumbs:

Good luck with it all! I know how time-consuming a server migration can be. Out of interest, what hosting company are you moving to?
Fortunately I have a french lesson to fill my evening, so thanks for choosing to do it on an evening when I wont be sat hitting F5! ;)
 
its part of the same company, but slightly different, and a different server...
 
erm.... I know you said earlier some time this week...... any idea whcih day yet?

Assume e-mailed POTY entries will be ok (and exist in cyber space untill needed) - yep, you guessed it, still not pulled my finger out this month!!!! :D

It's gonna be planned for the 31st Jan, between the hours of 7pm and 11:55pm, so that late entries for the comp can't be uploaded.

It's a fix, I tell ya - a fix!
 
Comp entries *should* be OK. With DNS servers propagating at different times.....some entries will be recieved to the current server, some to the new server...However, we will be able to access both so all entries should get to the TP team one way or another..

As for where I am? Stuck up a ladder, decorating :( (And getting to bed at a reasonable hour :p)

Sue ive started actually working during the day now so i dont have to talk to him.....:p
 
And I havestarted working nights so Idont see him during the day and go out after tea, so I hardly see him. :p




Hmmmm is that a bit excessive??

Thats both a matter of opinion and a nawty rumour ....... we heard you've started turning up and have learnt where the kettle is!
