Hahahahaha, just received a message saying, and i quote, "FOA ACCOUNT HOLDER, THERE IS A PROBLEM REGARDING YOUR MOBILE, CALL 08702 ******"

Hummmmm, Let me think about that. NO!

Anyone else had any other spam messages on their mobiles?
 
You can regvister your mobile with the Telephone Preference Service, but unfortunately I don't think that they can do anything to prevent text messages.

However, it should stop the calls from companies who like you to think that they are your mobile opertor and who try to get you to upgrade.
 
I've been registered with the TPS for years but lately I've been getting a few sales calls which is a bit annoying. Must remember to check out what info I need from the telesales gimp in these cases.
 
Hmmm, i never seem to get cold calls on my phone, probably because i change my number for every new phone. I wonder how they get peoples numbers? or do they just choose random numbers once they know a networks' prefix?

I just hope that all people get wise to the cons because the amount of people that receive message such as mine and actually call back, get totally ripped off as their next bill comes in at a few hundred quid. disgracefull.

I've had my number for about 4 years. It was originally an Orange number, but I moved it to T-Mobile. I was (until TPS registration) still getting calls from these shady operators saying things like "We know your orange contract is nearly at the end, would you like this amazing deal etc."

I guess they just know that 07970 is originally an orange prefix!
 
LOL - I've had my number for years - and very rarely get any kind of nuisance calls. When I do I usually just state that I don't accept unsolicited calls on my mobile and politely say goodbye before hanging up. I'd hazard a guess that because nobody ever gets anywhere with me on there I don't get forwarded on to other databases!
 
I do work for a telesales company that call people to renew their mobile contracts. Unbelievable amounts of money in it for them, but the things the salespeople say to get a sale is unreal! I'd be screaming down the phone at them!
 
I work in telecoms too. There was a recent case of a stolen phone from Carphone Warehouse that the thieves called every number +/- the last 3 digits and stated that they were calling from carphone warehouse about the insurance for their phones and if they paid in a lump sum over the phone they'd get a reduced insurance premium. Seemed to work as they made thousands and left many people with no insurance!!!! When they went to claim from Carphone Warehouse they claimed they knew nothing of the company offering the insurance! Some people!
