JPEG to PDF conversion - for print quality

I have to deliver a PDF File for A3 calendar prints - final files from D800 snaps. Needless to say, I don't want to suffer any reduction in quality - so any suggestions or tips - do's and don'ts on converting/converters from someone with experience of this process, will be received with thanks.

Just to clarify, a jpg (or tiff or what-have-you) embeds in a pdf. You don't say what software you'll be using - Photoshop can export images in a pdf, so can Adobe Acrobat and various page layout programmes. It should be possible during export to choose the degree of image compression or none at all ...

I wouldn't use MS Word, particularly Mac version... PS would be the first choice.
