Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and yours from all of us at TP and thank you all for your contributuions and for making this place such a great site to hang out.

It's perhaps worth linking this

Merry Christmas everyone!

I got an early pressie today when Royal Mail finally delivered my 4x5 camera that they've had in their clutches for three weeks! I don't have time to do much with it until after the festivities, but it's now here and waiting at least.

As it’s a new format to you and a completely different process , you could maybe find the time to mount it on a tripod and get used to different stages required to actually expose a sheet of film as well as obtaining some basic understanding of how the movements work and what they can offer.

That way you’ll be on a win win situation when you get out in the field ;)

Or I could just wing it. I mean, how hard can it be?:help:

Thanks, I'll add my season's best wishes to the one and all.

Christmas day can be extra expensive ......when I told my grandchildren I'll take them up to the Toby carvery on Christmas day, well the only booking was at 11:30 and had to pay £251 in advance and drinks would be extra for four people, oh well a promise is a promise..........the food better be good.

Felix sit vobis bona saturnalia - as they might have said in Rome at the time.

Just AAMOI if you want to go out for dinner on xmas day......Our toby carvery was very good in that staff were friendly and helpful with good Christmas atmosphere, the carvery was the same as in an ordinary week for about £8.99. What was different were the starters (I had prawns with salad with a roll and butter) and afters mixed fruit crumble with separate bowl with custard, and also included were bottles of water with glasses with ice and lemon....all included in the price. Anyway we were all full up and happy (y)

Glad you enjoyed it Bri……..If not, it would have been a rather costly dissapointment.

Well next year the grandchildren will be coming over boxing day and the total price will be a lot cheaper.......anything exciting for you today, would you have gone to say the local pub or whatever?

Nope , my excitement was pressing the shutter release on the intrepid earlier today.

Yesterday evening was cool though and very exciting especially for
the youngest cat …..so much so she couldn’t wait for their pressie to be constructed

Ideal! On the other hand, I said to my wife that, in future, we can work the children so we get a free Christmas lunch each year and don't have to raise a finger.

Sounds like a wonderful alternative to Christmas dinner at home. I'm a prawn cocktail enthusiast myself. Was there beer?

The prawn cocktail was even better as I forgot to mention it was with salmon slices. You can ask the waiter for any drink you want but I think you have to pay extra, mind you I had a glass of cider and on leaving went to the reception expecting to pay and all she said was "did you enjoy the food".......so must have been a comunication problem with the waiter and reception (y)
Toby might seem expensive but the cheapest non carvery restraurant I could find was £75 each on Christmas day o_O
Anway other than Christmas when I see one of my sons we have takeaway Chinese or fish and chips and it's never cheaper than £24 for two or curry restraurant £60 for two, so a mid week Toby carvery is great value at £8.99.....just to add went to a beafeater once on boxing day and it was crap and the place was empty which is a bad sign.
