Firstly the sadness, after a lifetime of doing my head in, my Pentax LX has finally bitten the dust, shutter failed in a changing bag related accident earlier today. Next of kin have been informed making the minature ME head of the Pentax household.

Secondly the joy. Kodak HIE has been loaded into the OM4 and is to be tested tomorrow, and with any luck will see some serious use at the weekend. I am very excited about this film, and equally nervous as it's so damn scarce and expensive! ::D

RIP the LX, all hail the mini ME.

look forward to seeing your HIE pics, when it's that expensive you have to really think about every shot, I'm too slapdash to use it

Firstly the sadness, after a lifetime of doing my head in, my Pentax LX has finally bitten the dust..

Just out of curiosity, did you have any problems with the shutter & mirror? I had an LX for a while in the 80's which I bought second hand, and in its later years it suffered from a fault where once I pressed the shutter release, the mirror would flip up and there would be a delay before the shutter fired. It was only after I got rid of all my Pentax gear that I found out that this was a fairly common fault with the LX. A shame really, as my MX was perfect.

Recently I've been using a MTL3, if that went wrong I'd sling it in the nearest rubbish bin to lessen the weight in my back pack (always carry a spare camera) ;)

My LX had every common fault imaginable with an LX, and even after it's service was still troublesome. Latterly if you held it in any orientation other than normal landscape the mirror wouldn't return properly! Now the shutter has gone completely, I think the drawstring snapped.

I'm really worried about squandering my HIE stock (2 whole rolls!) but I need a few frames to test so I know how long to dev it for! Unfortunately it's raining and blowing a gale today :(
