I was listenening to sky news just now and the reporter came out with "it definately probably will be"!!........... eh?
 
Journalists and presenters aren't what they used to be, even on the BBC. Many can't pronounce controversy or contributing properly and I recently heard the wrong pronunciation of the word pronunciation!

A nonsense phrase I hear a lot at the moment is one of the only...

And why do many people now start a reply with yeah, no...?

I think with words like contributing and controversy, both pronunciations are acceptable. Alernatives just grate the eardrums of the old school :lol:
 
How does one say "bath"?

The BBC should not be using the American pronunciations.

Americanisms seem to get everywhere now though, The word 'gotten' is used a lot on this forum (I know it's an old English word really) It gets used now due to over-exposure to American TV.

Other eardrum graters are 'my bad' and 'I could care less'.

Spelling and pronunciation will continue to evolve as the world effectively becomes smaller.
There should be no such excuse regarding grammar :-)

If you're using a Mac there's no excuse, "British English" spelling can easily be selected in the System Preferences. *

So undoubtedly (I'd hope) our Windows and Linux brethren can do likewise as well.

You would have thought so really, wouldn't you.
PC. Here. But "our" trash is more ecologically sound than yours, its a "re-cycle bin" :D
