Hi, just joined in and looking forward to a bit of photography-talk. I live in Cumbria and am surrounded by a wonderful world full of photographic glory and richness.
I have been taking pictures since I was about 10 and used to develop and print my own B & W pics taken with a 'Zenit-E' and enlarged on a 'Crocus' enlarger (I know - but it did the job..).
Now I have a Fuji HS10 (bridge camera) that I bought with the refund I obtained from a previously purchased Canon 1000D that simply couldn't compete with the HS10 - sacrilege maybe, but true.
Anyway - thanks for having me and hope I can contribute in some small way to the forums.

Welcome John!
I like the way you say "(I know - but it did the job..)." as I have amongst many other old cameras a Zenit and often due to the limits of some of my equipment, photos often come out soft but the fact is the gear i have used has "done the job" and given me an image even if a long way from pro standards!
I live in a beautiful area, to the envie of many but I also know the lake district very well having spent many years walking the hills. I wasn't into photography then as I am now but my memory serves suitably well at being a "hardrive" of stored images!! ( something else that "does the job" albeit a little slower each year it seems!!! lol)
Looking forward to seeing some scenes from your beautiful surroundings.
