John Blakemore

His Black & White book is an excellent resource, not just for filmies.

Funny that (in the video) he mentions Fay Godwin being a 'walker' whereas he was a 'sitter' in landscape ... reminded me of Nethersole Thompson I think it was who spoke of two kinds of birdwatchers as being 'leggers' and 'arsers' ...

What a lovely fellow!

"At the end of the day ... it's a lot of bits of paper in boxes". (Quote from end of video). :-)

I remember being originally smitten by his large format landscape material exposed in the 70's at Friog on the Welsh coast. There was something very meditative and meaningful about it, as well as being utterly capable. Equipment & technique as vehicles, not as ends in themselves.

His Black & White book is an excellent resource, not just for filmies.

Pretty pricey these days, by the looks of it ...

I believe so! I've had mine a while and it's something that will go to the charity shop when I snuff it.

Hoping that they price it properly to get the benefit ... though many charities seem to have a serious on-line book sales presence these days. Here, we have a physical Oxfam bookshop that links with their national structure ...
