Has anyone got one of these?
I'm wondering if it would supportmy 450D, 10-22mm and 17-85mm IS lenses?
It would be handy for doing some long exposure shots on our cruise in a couple of weeks.
I don't want to take my tripod but if would do the trick I think one would come in handy.

I have the SLR Zoom, which is happy with my 450D and a 24-105. It does also hold my 100-400, but for safety I prefer to use a full size tripod for that (for stability rather than strength).

FWIW, factor in the cost of a decent head to go onto the gorillapod, otherwise getting a level-ish shot will be a time consuming challenge.

And.... if you go to Asda you will find them for £17.00 ish

I've had a look on the ASDA website and they only show standard one and it's out of stock.
I don't think I can be bothered trawling their shops to find one in stock but thanks for the tip.

i wouldn't bother mate. i took one, and a tripod on our cruise just before xmas. the boat is moving, all the time, even in dock it goes up and down. All my long exposures where naff when i processed them. I used my monopod when on the islands.
just my two penneth

I've got the zoom version...you're welcome to borrow it for the cruise.

Personally I think they're total crap, I wouldn't trust a compact on one, never mind a dslr

I've got a Wimberley II on mine and it holds the 600/4 with the 1D2...or is that bo#*ox

Seriously though, the slr-zoom version will support a 300/4 and 30D.

Here you go Flash....300/2.8 and a gripped 50D

I've got the SLR Zoom too, which you're welcome to borrow hashcake?? :)

Wow, thanks for the offer Bob & Candlestick, that's very kind of you.
However, I've now ordered the SLR version.
animal168, on our last cruise the ship was very stable but I don't deny there was some movement but when at port, it was fine.
I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to use the pod on land as well because I know there were times I could have used one last time.
