Lunch time on Birstall main street ffs, whats the world coming too.

I hope she makes a full recovery
 
just up road a few miles from me

I hope she will recover. This is an unbelievable low crime.

I just fear it was a conspiracy, or perhaps a total mental illness. Hopefully a the investigation will soon paint an accurate and truthful picture of the attack, the real motives and all affiliations of the perpetrator.
 
Reports on the BBC say the attacker shouted Britain First before the attack.

Birstall? Ropey? Its been a few years since I've been there but I always thought it was ok. Times change I suppose

lot of development cash been spent over the years bringing it up to date but its pretty rough in areas, not saying the attack is linked mind you.

been a wetherpsoons there for a few years, the union rooms., although that might be considered batley.
 
Just been announced that she has died from her injuries...

Sad news.
 
Such bad news, so sad, no body deserves this.

At least the killer is in custody, and witnesses aplenty.
 
Words absolutely fail me. Had not heard of her before today but seemed to be a very nice and well liked person. To be targeted (apparently) in the this way... Why? No sense.
 
How do you tell your kids about it ?

Just how do you break the news to them that some person had shot and stabbed their mother ?
 
A week full of shocking news.

With politics becoming so divided I hope this isn't the beginning of things to come.

Very sad, and very un-necessary. I'd like to think this could unite parties, rather than divide them.

Such a sad incident, no one deserves what has happened. Hopefully it isn't linked to the referendum.

With so much news quickly on the Internet it will sadly be hard for them not to find out. I guess it all depends on children's age. I do feel the media should not release any details of the victims until family have been informed. In situations like this I do wonder if there is a chance some family members do sadly find out via the media in situations like this.
 
RIP it's a shocking thing to happen to anyone let alone a mother of two.

It does seem that death had occurred and the media were reporting a shooting. Allowing time to notify family before releasing the news of the death 4 hrs later.

Apparently she was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's a tricky thing to manage, but they appear to have made a decent attempt.

You are right it is now a tricky one to manage, I think it's sadly the world we live in where the public want 24hr as it happens news. If it doesn't go out on the news it's most likely to leak out on social media which is even worse as not controlled at all. Thankfully incidents like this are rare compared to countries like the USA. Thoughts are with the family especially her two very young children.

It is news of national importance. It has to be reported promptly - I am sure the police sent their best people to the family to help coming to the terms of this tragic and pointless loss of life.

That is Batley which is 3 miles away from Birstall, you clearly have do idea of the area at all

From the stats that are being quoted on the radio it would appear that an average of 2 women per week are killed violently in the UK. I don't feel very surprised by that figure. Maybe less that I would have thought.
 
The accused has appeared in court. When asked to confirm his name he replied "Death to traitors, freedom for Britain".

Do you have a stat for how many people die violently in Britain each week? That might be more helpful than making this about gender (which it almost certainly wasn't).
 
According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the UK experienced 602 'intentional homicides' in 2013, the latest year for which internationally comparable data are available. That's about 12 per week. But not all of them will necessarily have been 'violent'.
