Did you know that you have to pay for something before a Jessops store will order it in now! Thats on everything too! What does every one think of that?

If its something they are ordering specialy then thats fair enough, but if they have it in the warehouse then it's not a good idea and will loose them mre business.

Actually, I asked them if they had a Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS about 3 weeks ago so I could try it out. They hadn't, however I received a phone call a few days ago from our local Jessops store to say they have one in and invited me to try it out with no obligation to purchase. It must be the policy of the local store managers.

No way!!! I was told to order a nikon 70-300VR the other day so i can look at it, the guy even told me to do at no obligation, and because they wanted store stock. i bought a 18-135mm today instead elsewhere!!!

I hope they havent charged me for it LOL!! When did this new policy happen?

Never had a problem at the Inverness Jessops. Policy may well have changed though and to be honest I wouldn't blame them. They must get sick to the teeth of demonstrating equipment only for people to say thanks and buy elsewhere. I know, reduce their prices and it wouldn't happen so often.

i've just checked my confirmation email. its says that its reserved til next Friday, and to bring payment to the store. so fingers crossed i wont be charges

:agree:

If jessops lowered their prices to match or even contend with WE they would get loads of business.

I think so.

I wonder how much of their sales are of lenses and the SLR / Pro market? Not many I would have thought. Not compared to their point and shoot / snapper market I would have thought.

I've got a Jessops 'We'll match any price of camera and Lens in this Magazine' voucher. plan to put it to the test tomorrow on a new compact camera to complement my DSLR. my current samsung i5 isnt up to scratch anymore

This paying before seeing it is a new thing only just started i discovered for the whole chain! rather then just local managers, is very disappointing.

Thats a shame, but i suppose they're sick and tired off people ordering things and not paying for them. I went in today and took my 'price match voucher', which thankfully they honoured. i'm now the proud owner of a canon ixus 75. their price was £220 for the kit which includes the camera, canon ixus leather case, and the silver neck strap (quite good as these extras cost a few bob). i managed to get them to price match it with a magazine offer for the same kit. i got it for £185 so i'm quite pleased. cant wait to have a play later, especially the colour accent feature

I got a Sigma 10-20mm from Jessops last year. They price matched without a voucher. All they wanted was a printout of the webpage where i found it cheaper. They knocked 50 quid off the price so I can't really fault them ! :)
