My local Jessops said the retailer had to be within a ten mile radius of them. I didn't understand that as they have shops nationwide, but they wouldn't budge.

It'll depend massively on the store on whether they'll price match, and who they'll match it against.
I got an MB-D10 for £165 when they were first out from Jessops in York, matching Bristol Cameras online..

Jessops will price match online sites too, I often quote Warehouse Express.....

all three retailers are a fair distance away as in 120 mile round trip
also I like to go in and pay for the goods and have somewhere I can go back to if I have a problem

With my example, they wouldn't match the price I gave them as it wasn't a store within a ten mile radius. I quoted Park Cameras, they would have matched it had they been based locally but refused to do so. The main reason for trying to do this is same day collection as opposed to waiting for delivery from an online order.

Think it really is store dependent. The BSE store said 10 mile radius, whilst another Jessops were happy to pricematch an internet price, but only if there was also a bricks and mortar store to go along with the online presence.

that is what I explained to the sales guy
the three shops are all decent photographic stores not just online retailers or people selling grey imports
the only high street retailers they would have to price match otherwise would be Argos and currys
I did actually email jessops head office and they gave me a number to call if I had no luck instore
they said give them a call and they would sort something out
