Just got a couple of pics back from Jessops, pretty disappointed tbh.

They're over exposed, the blacks are too black and there is way more red than what there should be.

There is a picture of my mates cat i printed for him, on my screen there is masses of detail, perfect colouring etc, so when i got them i was like hmmmmmm. There is a distinct lack of detail, the white fur is pretty much just a white stick, where the fur is a very light grey/brown colour is now gingery and the very light pink around the ears is way off.

My friends daughter, she looks like she has severe flu!

What can i do to ensure images are printed out with the correct colouring?

I am using an iMac which i got in 2010 if that makes any difference regarding calibration etc.

Anybody else suffered this too?

I'm not worried about the money, they we're only 55p a pic and i only printed 2, but its just frustrating.

Many thanks

he needs to get his monitor calibrated - not going to matter who he sends prints off too if his monitor is too bright etc

If you go to Jessops to get your prints, and some are low/hi key, the machine tries to compensate for the amount of light/dark areas, which often are beyond the machines reach. Meaning that when it sees light areas, say a background it then tries to darken the whole image meaning eyes can look like coals in the snow. The same with dark images, it will try to lighten everything and end up burning out correctly exposed parts.
The best way round this is to give the disc to them and ask for it to be printed direct, no adjustments. This bypasses the machine and gives you a print more like what you see on your monitor.
The self serve machines are pants.
Dean.
