Yes
I was walking through Liverpool city centre last Friday when I happened upon a brand spanking knew Jessops store in Lord St, which I didn't expect.

There were quite a few staff in the shop, and many 'suits' hanging around. I asked a sales assistant when they had opened, and he 'today'. That explained the suits I thought to myself. ;) It is like night and day compared to the store they have moved from with lots of gear around the store as opposed to the previous store which was more seemingly focused on printing, with a wall full of printing terminals, and what gear they had stuck in locked glass cupboards. :bang:

The new store has loads of gear out and ready to play with, I mean test and assess. ;) I had been checking out the prices of the Canon G12 the previous day and was happy to see one there to look at. While I was looking, the sales assistant came up and started talking to me, and was very helpful. He also said he used to work for Canon UK. Because he was helpful, and I'm not in a position to buy any camera at the moment, I didn't have the heart to mention that I'd seen the camera £70 cheaper online, and over £100 cheaper on E bay.

What did impress me camera wise was the Sony A33 viewfinder, which was very clear for an EVF, and being an EVF had level indicators in the viewfinder which I thought would be very handy. ;) Not sure I would switch from an Optical viewfinder, but you could see why some people wouldn't mind.

No opening day offers?

Nothing popped out at me as opening day offers.

But then I have no cash and was not looking for them. :(

I was impressed with the changes made in my home town. Think they have been influenced with apple stores. But wasn't just the refurb, the staff are more attentative too.

The new Trafford Centre store is better too, more space and more easily accessible items. Few new products like Billingham bags, too. Tills aren't in the best place though, they block the aisles when they're making sales (Shock horror they were actually the cheapest online for a lens). Still think they need to take the Calumet approach and have space for in-store events as well.

Went into Kidderminster Jessops soon after and my god it's poor.

Liverpool is going to be without a decent camera shop by the end of this month with the demise of Calumet, I still can't see Jessops taking up the mantle somehow. :(
