Which flash would be best for my 1000d, the jessops 360afd or Nissin di622? or any other alternatives around £100 or less?

Will be mostly used for portraits and pictures of pets and wouldn't mind being able to do some manual off camera stuff eventually too.

I've got the Jessops 360afd and the Nissin Di866.

Had no problems with the Jessops flash, although I have heard reports that the zoom mechanism can break. I think for the money it's a good buy.

Thanks for that Russ. Just to add another one to the mix what about the canon 270ex?

Not a clue on the Canon speedlites but from what I can gather the Nissin Di866 is more or less an equivalent of the 580ex (although the Di866 is more powerful ;) )and I think the Di622 might be similar to the 270ex but don't quote me on that.

I have the Yongnuo 468 which I got for £50 and that's been simply brilliant for the money. No problems whatsoever and a good cheap way of learning the basics of using a flashgun.
And then if you want to get more flashguns later on you get the YN-560s which are more powerful and only £55.

I've got 2 Youngnuo YN-460II which go for about £30 each on ebay at the moment. Obviously not good build quality or anything but they work great for off-camera stuff.
