Hi all. Is there anyway I can connect a mini hifi with radio and cd on it to a Bluetooth speaker? Basically so I can play music outside? So is there such a thing as a headphone/ line out socket to blue tooth convertor or is there another way?
Thanks

There are little boxes on eBay for around £7 if you search “3.5mm to Bluetooth” that are basically unencrypted transmitters. Never used one mind.

yep but range is not great 5m max, ive got bluetooth headphones and can connect in same room but not next door, think line of sight best

These get good reviews

Bluetooth does generally suck for real life distance though. And penetration through objects will stop transmission.

I've got some of the super cheap ones by the way and the range is dire. And will drop signal if a hand covers the unit.

I may be misremembering this, but I thought the short range of BT was a deliberate security feature. You can't (for example) keylog a BT keyboard from outside an office.

Thanks all. Bluetooth maybe not the answer then as hifi in kitchen and I'd want to use speaker in front and back garden. Maybe a boom box better idea.

This transmitter claims an aux* to Bluetooth range of 10 meters, but I've never actually used it at anything close to that.

*It works fine with the headphone socket.
