Following getting my hands on a D300 at the Focus show I attended, I have now bought one...

...oh, and an MB-D10.

Is that bad of me?

:D

So, any cool settings to be shared for the custom shooting banks?

Nice one!

I use one of the buttons on the front for changing the AF points. I can't remember the process for changing the function but it is in the manual, I press the button and turn the command dial to switch between 9pt, 21pt etc etc.

Hope that makes sense!

It's the assign function button set to function button + dials & set to Dynamic area AF. This allows you to hold the button & rotate the dial to select the number of focus points (your camera need to be in dynamic area mode & continuous AF though I think)

Edit - page 305 of the manual

You have been very bad. I'm thinking about getting the MB-D10 but am I right in assuming that I need the EN-EL4 battery to get 8fs? And am I also right in assuming that I would need a different battery charger for the EL4?

you can get 8fps from using AA rechargeables.

Yes you need a charger that costs around "120 for the EN-EL4

Plus the different tray holder you will need to purchase.

Remember that if you shoot in 14 bit you will never get 8 fps but a much lower rate.

You will need to use 12 bit to achieve this.

£120! That includes the battery right?

.

That doesn't come with the battery grip?

Didn't realise that. One saving grace.

I did know that. I think you only get 2.5fs in 14 bit.

I've not tried the 14bit mode out yet. Is there a noticeable difference?

<< £120! That includes the battery right? >>

No!

By the time I've bought the grip, new battery and charger it's going to be over £400. It was only £80 for my D80 grip!

I don't mind paying out for quality glass and bodies but when the accessories come to half as much as the camera it does take the ****.

Looks like I'll be selling my D80 after all.

The EL4 battery holder is an additional"optional " accessory for around £25-£30

EL4 batteries in the UK are around £60-£80

Congrats Mart, did you P/X the d200?

Thanks for the comments guys.

And Alasdair - enjoy the grip. It adds so much to the balance of the D200, especially if you've a weighty lens attached.

The Post Office Track and Trace now says: "Your item with reference ZV*********GB has been held for delivery on Monday. This is either at the request of the receiving customer or because the address is an exclusion for Saturday deliveries."

I shot 5-600 images at Focus, never switched the camera off all day between 1000 and 1800 and the indicator was still on full!

Dave, I did part-ex the D200 body to London Camera Exchange. I got £460 from them in the end. And they knocked £100 of the price of the MB-D10!
