iTunes Registration HELP

Hi guys
Getting an iPhone for Christmas and have been trying to download apps from iTunes. I only really want the free apps.
My Problem is that I can only register my account with a payment method.
Does any body know if i can register to download free apps without have to set up a payment account?

No you have to register a debit/credit card with them. That's what I had to do, and then once you've done that you can just cancel it. That's what I did and it worked fine :)
 
Even with your phone you need some kind of method. I had to register my dad's with his debit card.
When you purchase anything, you have to confirm your password and it confirms purchases.
 
As far as I know, you have to use a card.

However, it's still not costing you anything, is it?
 
To open an itunes account without a card, you can do this;
1 try to buy a free app.
2 when the box opens asking you to sign in, click on "open an account"
3 fill in the first page of details
4 on the second page there is a list of types of card, followed by the option "none", choose that and your'e done:)

This comes in handy for having multiple world wide accounts for the upcoming "twelve days of Christmas" give-aways;)
