Good afternoon

Could someone please help. iTunes, when my ipad is connected to my MacBook to transfer my music over, says my iPad needs iTunes 10.7 but no matter what I do it doesn't let me download it on my ipad. It's doing my nut in and I'm hoping someone knows a solution.

Thanks in advance

It means you need to update iTunes on your computer, not the iPad.

It varies depending which version of OSX you are using, but from the apple menu on your desktop, click updates etc.

Or just download the latest version from the apple website.

I've tried that but it says that the software requires Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or above. So I seriously need to update my operating system completely or is it a free upgrade.

Many thanks

do the software update menu option, youll probably see a OSX update there to install (it'll be free if youre already on 10.6 or higher). you can check your current OSX version on the "about my mac" option under the apple logo.

Okay so nothing worked and I upgraded to 10.6.8 and still nothing. Argh, I'm getting really hacked off.

When you plug your ipad in with the usb to the computer does it appear in itunes at all as a device?

Have you got your library shared on your itunes library mac and are logged in with the same appleid on both devices?

One workaround would be to get itunes match. Then it's all in the ether so it wouldn't matter what your puter was doing :)

Are you also looking in 'music' on the ipad and not in the itunes app itself to find music? That caught me out to begin with as I was looking in itunes app for the normal things to be listed...

This article about wifi syncing might help: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386

It's not even syncing ipad, and comes up saying 10.7 or higher is needed on ipad but when I update on pad it says no dates as software is up to date.

Yes. It's the itunes on the mac that has to be 10.7 or later.

Actually does it say 10.7 or 10.7.x? If the latter then it means osx is too old.

My iTunes says iTunes 10 then scrolls through with 10.6.3 so I'm downloading 11 at the moment

Confused, much lol

Ah. That should hopefully sort it. Mine works ok with itunes 11.

As others have explained it's the software on your computer that needs updating. Not the iPad.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay it's working! Blooming heck me and software are a bad mix

No comment :D. Glad it is working at last :)

Having problems with my iPad 4 and iTunes ... it didn't properly restore from the iPad 1 and will not properly sync my videos which I'm currently having to load into Goodreader leaving the video tab vacant!
Not best pleased with upgrading to downgrade in use ... seems loads of people having problems.
