Firstly my appologies for starting another thread when this has likely already been covered elsewhere but having done a search, I've found myselg going around in circles trying to clarify my concerns.

Basically, II have progressed into modern life lol and acquired an Iphone 6S

Having already checked "deals" with my internet provider ( here in France), I have a good idea of requirements and costs to run music and video streaming etc. ….To obtain 100Go internet with unlimited calls etc is like 20 euros / month which out here is, I beleive, reasonable.

Now of course, music also doesn't appear to come free either!

I have a 3 month free trial offer which will be a nice start, then the tarif is 10 euros a month.

My question is what do I actually receive for that 10 euros?
Is it unlimited downloads of music from the itune store in any given month?
Are the albulms available regularly updated/ changed to offer a continued variety of music.

The info on the phone is very limited ( presumably more is clear AFTER one agrees to the subscription!!,) hence my asking you guys for some guidance.

Thanks in advnce.......

If you are referring to Apple music - it's great for unlimited music. You can download / add to your collection and get recommendations. In order to keep your music though you must keep paying your subscription. I lost my entire Apple Music playlist because I stopped paying. Coming back at a later date I was sad to realise all the music I had collected on Apple Music had been lost even after re-subscribing. So once you start you have to remain subscribed to continue to keep your music library intact

yes sorry if i was'n't clear…..I'm somewhat of a newbie with this!

This is the impression I got when reading about the subscription.

This is good though, so as long as the subscription tarifs don't increase at a stupid rate each year ( similarly the internet provider tarifs!) then it sounds like the way to go.

I have to add that I never thought I would see myself with an iPhone, let alone donloading music onto it….Next I'll be the oldest git in the village strolling around with Bluetooth earphones oblivious to what's going on around me!

Spotify does the same, with the added benefit of not losing your playlists if you unsubscribe/resubscribe. Plus its easily available across platforms

Plus there is a free version of Spotify, though it comes with advertising and (I think) no downloads... I had to use the paid version to drive my Sonos, but TBH I'm really not getting a tenner's worth of value out of it, since I mostly listen to radio!

To give you food for thought - I have 8GB data on my phone plan and rarely use more than half of that...I am what would be considered a heavy data user, including using Spotify to stream, Google map navigation, and watching various services (Netflix, Prime & Now TV) on my phone. If you usually spend most of your time near a Wifi connection you can minimise your phone's data plan by downloading TV shows or music onto the phone for offline use. This is also great when you're going somewhere without the internet, e.g. a plane!

20 Euros is already cheap, but you might be able to get a cheaper deal if you lower the data allowance.

But yes these services are amazing, for a low monthly cost (less than I used to spend on CDs per month) I now get unlimited access to all kinds of new interesting music which I'd never have discovered before. The main caveat is that something has to be available on the service...but there is so much choice now it doesn't bother me if 1 album isn't on there.
