It's finally time to get a new monitor, not because I need it but because I want it :)

Use is general web surfing, word processing and, of course, image editing. My budget is £150.00.

I'm looking at a 27" IPS screen but what else do I need to think about in the specification?

Which of the following would you buy, and why? Should I be looking at something else within my budget?

I've used DVI connection in the past but everything appears to have HDMI these days, is there an advantage/disadvantage to HDMI?

Your comments would be much appreciated, as always :)

Just had a quick look at the links. Only the Dell claims to have 100% sRGB colour space and it has a three year warranty. You would have to do a search for the HP ones to check if they do but I doubt it, as usually manufacturers do advertise this fact.

I'd probably take the Dell, just because. ;)

My monitor uses displayport, with the other end of the cable going to a mini displayport on the computer, although I believe it has DVI input too. AFAIK HDMI is limited in the resolution it can handle, though there's a later version that can carry data for a higher resolution.

Watching this as it’s on my “want” list

I would go for the Dell ( I have 2 Dell monitors so I might be a bit biased) the price is £3 cheaper than the Dell web site and you have the same 3 year warranty

I know what you mean ... Dell does have a good name and my existing monitor is a Dell.

The HP monitors have 95/97% sRGB cover so not much difference. I wonder if I would see the difference with my eyesight?

I have found another with 124% sRGB - https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/compu...27-lcd-monitor-black-silver-10182215-pdt.html - but I have no experience of Philips so don't know how much of a risk it would be

The 3 year Dell warranty sounds good too :)

Personally I'd look for 24" 1920 X 1200 - the extra height is useful for image editing, and pretty much everything else except watching movies too. I MUCH prefer using this size than the poxy 1920 X 1080 screens I have for work.

I really wouldn't. The resolution is already too low for that size. From personal experience, not just numbers. 27" QHD looks far far crisper.

not all of them are this useless. Some go way beyond to full AdobeRGB which is frankly what you should get and maybe what I will get unless I go full imac 5K first.
