a good few years in fact. ever since the surgery in 2014 when i sold all my canon gear as i just couldnt do the walking ( or carrying of it and moved to an olympus omd em1 the photography pretty much went down hill to the point i didnt even bother taking the camera on the occasional trip out.
the main reason being i just couldnt gel with the olympus ( was the same when i had the fuji xe1 and x100S. lovely cameras but i couldnt get on with them.

So couple of weeks ago.. after getting great spotted woodpecker as regular visitor to the garden at the new house ( along with foxes, squirrels, a badger and various birds ( blue tits, long tailed tits, great tits, sparrows, starlings, collared doves, robins, finches and nuthatches )) i decided was time to trade in the oly and go back to the familiar canon now that i can walk a bit further and carry the gear.

So now im the proud owner of a new ( actually old second hand ) Canon 7D ( 24k actuations and immaculate condition, a Canon 15-85 IS USM ( choose this over 10-20 as at 15mm its wide enough for landscapes but going up to 85 makes a great little carry around all day lens and image quality is very very good, and to complete the gear ( along with an ND1000 and cpl filter and my trusty xprob manfrotto and intervalometer i am the proud owner of a canon 35-350 USM L lens.. beast of a thing.. rather battle scarred on the paint work and was down as having a locking ring on the push pull zoom that wouldnt lock. quick youtube search and found a fix that took about 20 mins ( remove the outer sleeve of the push pull , clean the tightening ring and replace the worn material with thin strip of masking tape.. and all perfect and locks with no issued on the push pull ring. lens was also listed as having some dust spots and scratches on lens but when i got it.. clean as a whistle.

So now im finally back behind the lens enjoying the photography again and with a new location and new home, im right on the doorstep of farthing downs and happy valley ( 2 mins walk ) looking forward to getting out there and shooting some wildlife and landscapes.
