We fancy a long weekend in Italy around October time and would appreciate your views. We've done Sorrento and the Amalfi coast as well as Lake Como on a couple of occasions and ideally we are looking for somewhere that has a smattering of restaurants and bars. We don't want a city like Rome, Milan or Venice as they can be too busy and we just want to chill for a few days. Florence seems okay if very expensive and my wife likes the look of Sienna but anywhere that fits our criteria will be considered. :D

Any ideas?

I always keep meaning to go to Florence, but it might still be a bit busy to fit your criteria. Staying in that part of the country, how about somewhere like Barga?

Siena is a lovely place, and if you have a car there are lots of little walled villages to visit in the area.

Never heard of it but I'll have a look see. Thanks!

I quite fancy Verona, will take a closer look.

Spoleto, Umbria

Thanks Tim, I've just Googled Spoleto and it looks good.

Did Capri a couple of years ago and found it to be a bit touristy and very expensive but thanks for the suggestion.

We (the royal we :D) seem to be leaning towards Siena at the moment, must do a bit more research. Thanks.
