Good work, there :)

Probably didn't realise it's a leap year and posted the cash back offers a day early.

As it happens I'm going to Bristol this weekend better not get spending just yet as no doubt you will have to purchase between x and y dates with X not yet started.

went in there today and they were rubbish... Just didnt seem to have the time to want to help me. I was dissapointed

All this cashback rubbish, why don't they just give us their best price and have done with. Sorry for the rant ;)

what an unfortunate first post to have to make.

Agree. Why doesn't the supplier just give the shop the money off their purchase price then sell to us for the lower price?

Thanks SBB for posting.

£150 off a 5D  must put my credit cards away

That way the shop would make less money. The cashback is from Canon's marketing budget. It's complicated to explain to non-marketing folk but it makes sense for the retailer as they also get all the point of sale stuff etc which otherwise they would not get if the price was just lowered. With deals like this people tend to buy more than they would if just the price was lowered. Though with this now happening for the 2nd time in 6 months it would seem rather pointless to make any purchases from Canon unless the cashback deal is running unless you're desperate.

no 24-105 :(

I am buying my camera tomorrow cashback or no cashback, from what I have read and heard its not worth the hassle but I will wait till tomorrow all the same just in case:bonk:

I have claimed cashback 3 times from Canon, and it wasn't any hassle really. They were slow enough in sending the refund but then again when it did arrive it was a nice surprise and an incentive to buy another piece of kit!!!!

Well I bought a camera and sent off for the cashback in january (december purchase) and then the camera went faulty so I sent it back and have not got any cashback so I dont suppose I will get any but I am a bit miffed because I sent to Ireland by recorded delivery and it cost me £4.99 .

Agree, easy to do but takes about 6 weeks or so, "because of the popularity of the scheme".

Problem is people tend to wait for it now, a bit like car registration

no 24-105 :(

Dod,

That's not an exhaustive list and it's not official from Canon so it may be that that appears on an official release - I noticed it wasn't there too and have half an eye out for one! :)

Edit - have read somewhere else that the 24-105 IS on the rebate!! Don't know how accurate this is... http://www.eos-numerique.com/

thanks for that :) 24-105's a perfect range for me, the 24-70 is a bit too short at times but I'd be loathe to get rid of it. Never mind, Mr Brown, that kind gentleman, just sent me in his cheque for the tax I'd over paid last year ;)

Dod,

I've just found confirmation :)

Oh and I'm torn - I get annoyed with my 17-40 sometimes as it's too short....I've recently acquired the 10-22 so I'm toying with getting rid of the 17-40 and getting the 24-105. It'll mean I'll have a small gap in the range (I have a 70-200) but I don't think I'll miss the 2mm....

But I'm torn....am I being mad?

Matt

£40 cashback on the 580EX Mark II. Exactly what I was waiting on!

No but there's a bit of a contradiction. If the 17-40's too short I'd be getting rid of the 10-22, not the 17-40, unless of course you really need ultrawide :p

Hi guys

The cashback is definately starting tomorrow. Canon started this years ago and now every manufacturer does it. The idea I guess is that some people just dont claim it. Im sure the 24-105 is one of the lenses on the list and has £45 cashback.

As a retailer it does boost sales without having to reduce our prices.

Can these rebates be claimed for kit ordered via Hong Kong, how do Canon go about checking up on the receipts?

you have to send the invoice and the barcode from the box. So has to be UK/European stock.

I know what your saying - what i mean is that I'd like to cover more of the focal length with less lenses.

I want to keep the wide option - so I think I want the 10-22, and I'm after an option that covers the range from 22 up to 70mm. I don't think I want the 24-70 2.8 as it'll probably be too heavy for my liking...and I'm leaning towards a 24-105 but I'm not sure if it's overkill....:cuckoo:

Becasue then they wouldn't be able to generate all this hype 1-2 times a year with people clammaring t0 buy the kit, instead after a price drop we'd all be whinging 6 months down the line and wanting stuff cheaper :D Point in case is this thread!!

While I was at Focus on wednesday 27th I noticed that a couple of the "shops" were already advertising (and stating that you could claim on purchases from that day), the latest Canon Cashback. Best price I saw for a 40D body was £599 after cashback.

I ordered my EOS40D at 1205 am this morning from currys online with a £50 online voucher it was £905 so if I get cashback of £140 for the Lens and camera I reckon that is a bargain:clap:
Having said that it could still go terribly wrong!
This includes a 17-85 lens kit but being a complete novice I do not know if it a good or bad lens....please tell me its ok

Oh, ace!
Onestopdigital have the 40d at £650, so that would be £550 with the cashback, and the 70-200 f/4 for £370, so £330 with cashback.

Just gotta pay off the debt to my Dad for car insurance, and then I'm away!

Umm, arent OSD based in HK so you wont be able to claim back any cashback from Canon?

If I'm wrong then great, as I am very tempted on the 40D too :)

As I recall, one of the things you need to send in to claim cashback is the invoice (or photocopy). It's a while since I bought anything from Onestop but I don't recall getting an invoice from them.

I have claimed cashback on a purchase from Kerso though
