Isolation: Any Gamers? Even Old Ones?

Game Pass and Virgin Fibre - what a combination :)

(I need some light relief while I put in another 50 hours or so on CP2077 so I have a character tough enough for Phantom Liberty....)

It's a pity that Alan Wake 2 isn't available on XBL for PC, I might have re-signed back up for that one, not paying €50 for anything on Epic games, maybe when there's a sale ...

I loved the first game, but I was more a regular gamer back then, now just a casual scrub who dips in and out occasionally - I've watched a couple streams for the game, looks like a solid follow up. Combat, atmosphere, dialogue etc all very much in tune with the first, but it is of course a lot prettier too

Just a reminder that Prime Gaming exists......

If you have Amazon Prime you can claim a free copy of Ghostwire: Tokyo (ends today) and Doom 3 with new titles every month.

Also for any Phantom Liberty fans there's an extra gun (though of course all the cool Vs are using blades.....)

I've been playing Starfield. After initial few hours trying to work out all the mechanics and get over the idea of so many menus, the back story, scene setting and faction quests are actually very good. The end game becomes NG+ and even offers new conversation trees.

I was also a fan of Alan Wake 1 and want to play 2nd game. But now mostly play on Steam Deck, pretty sure it wouldn't run it :ROFLMAO:

Also want to upgrade to Quest 3 from Quest 1, but decline of PCVR in favour of portable because of Quest leaves a bad taste in my mouth. In particular Asgard's Wrath 2 being Quest exclusive and Bone Labs was a step backwards from Boneworks.

Thanks for the reminder! Just snagged Doom3!

KSP2 Science update is out and with most of the game breaking bugs ironed out, I made my first trip to the Mun (moon) and back!

Ooo looks fun.

Meanwhile I got Metal Gear Solid for Christmas (yes, I ignored the reviews) it is all sorts of fun - but my Series X has never looked more like a potato....like its dialogue and "values", the graphics are, erm, dated......

I've been playing nothing but Marvel Snap for the past year, a little warcraft rumble on the phone but mostly snap, on pc via steam. I need a good adventure game, but nothing seems to jump at me in that field ATM. Witcher 4 when???

Any Wipeout fans here? Runs really well on the more recent gen ps consoles

That's a blast from the past right there! Haven't played it since the ps1 days! for it's time I remember it being graphically amazing, we'd not seen such speed in racing games either. I do also remember it giving me slight nasea too though after multiple session lol

A 3 game collection came out on the ps4 and got a nice patch for the ps4 pro and ps5. Tough game but I find it pretty addictive.

I'm deep into Baldurs Gate 3 at the moment and loving it :)
Just reached act 3 last night on my second playthrough. Completed it the first time a few days before the patch that added the six months later final scene, so want to see that.

First time my tav was a human fighter, this time a selunite drow pala-bard. It also caused me to buy a new graphics card and finally replace the GTX980 I've had for a long, long time.

Haven't played an offline game this much since the original Baldur's Gate (which I still have on its 5 CDs)

Ended up getting a Quest 3 and passed the Quest 2 onto my son. Pancake lenses so much better than Fresnel, although there is a little blooming. Just bought Warplanes Battles Over Pacific VR (standalone version) for a bit of aerial fun, not hardcore like VTOL but lots of fun. Interesting in testing some augmented reality games now that it has better passthrough.

Anyone else doing VR?

Want to try something special?

This game lines up with main topic of this very forum. But ultimately it's a puzzle game using photos and playing with perspectives.

Sorry for the thread revival.

Is there anyone here that is a Mahjong player who has found a computer game version? The only versions I have found are just a form of solitaire; a bit like comparing Whist to Snap.

Sorry Paul can't help with that one. Factorio Space Age for me. Having to unlearn many many bad habits from the vanilla game...

I've been having a wee bash at State of Decay 2, but ever since installing it I seem to be getting random bsod . Error reporting suggested the Microsoft game ready service or something, so I disabled it and it was ok for a while but came back today.

Very annoying. Good game though, it's sucks a dangerous amount of time from you so need to be careful with that.

My other half is playing State of Decay 1 she likes it , hasn’t had any issues
I’m still on Elder Scrolls Online , it’s a social game we play with people from all over Europe a couple of times a week, I’ve been running our team for 6 years now, still going strong :)

Bought Astrobot for the grandson and he loves it, in fact so do I, the graphics are amazing and its a rather fun game to play.

I'll need to investigate further. I'm also seeing references to NTFS and Dump File, so I've cleared my system restore and enabled it again. I'm hoping it's not hardware related with the M.2 drive as it's fairly new.

I've never played any of the Elder Scrolls stuff, I think I'm too scared about getting sucked in! lol 6 years is doing well,

I was talking about older games with my son over dinner yesterday and showing him YouTube videos of games like Rick Dangerous 2, Speedball 2 etc. The horror in his face at the graphics! lol But these games had such good playability value.

10 years ago I started playing Civilisation 5, God it takes hours of my time, but I love playing it. I haven't tried Civ 6 yet...

Still enjoying BG3 , just trying it on Tactition mode

It’s fun but yes time consuming
It’s the social side that keeps us playing
Doing raids as it’s called with a group of 12 friends is fun

I remember signing up to Steam to claim the Half Life 2 serial number, wow, that was 20 years ago!

Just released, a fan made mod continuing Half Life 2 Episode 2 story:

I also remember playing through whole of Halo 2 campaign in coop mode at friend's house, after playing Halo 1 extensively on PC the previous year. Wow, that's also 20 years old now!

The Halo 2 E3 demo is now available to play:

They feel like 5 years ago instead of 20 years!

Aliens Dark Descent. It's a little bit nerve racking.

Only just seen this thread.

I've been playing video games since the Sinclair Spectrum. :$ Then moved on to the Atari ST, and then PlayStations. During my latter PlayStation periods it has been mainly the Gran Turismo racing games. I am rubbish at it, but enjoyed them. Been disappointed with the last couple though, especially now that you need to be connected to the Internet to actually have a working game.:headbang:

Anyway, despite having PC's for about 20 years, I never gamed on them. I really liked Railroad Tycoon on the Atari many years ago, but never found a port, or anything similar, though I wasn't looking too hard. 3-4 years ago a video popped up on YT by a chap called Biffa playing Cities Skylines. He was very entertaining, and the game looked like it could scratch my Railroad Tycoon itch.

It is a city building game, but it can be played in a number of ways. You can build a city from bare map, road layout, zoning residential, commercial etc, set up transport, trash, all kinds of things, whilst trying not to go bust. ;) You can take the financial constraints away and just build what your imagination leads you. There are scenarios, where you are given a built city, and asked to complete a scenario, such as making 1m cims travel my public transport etc in a certain number of weeks. There was a very active modding community which took the game way beyond what the game originally was. You could really play it any way you wanted. I enjoyed that for a few years.

They released Cities Skyline II just over a year ago, and despite a very bad release, it is starting to get close to the original for modding, and will hopefully get better as we go forward. It is missing the scenario challenges of the first game, which I enjoyed, and the asset modding option is not there yet, as the assets people created were insane in the previous game, but it is a lovely looking game compared to the original, and some dedicated detail players made that look amazing.

For me, there is something really satisfying about designing a city, and it all working, and the population growing, and not going bust. ;) It gives me what I craved for from Railroad Tycoon, but a 1000% more.
