Has anyone been there? If so any tips of where to see golden eagles and see otters?
Should be going summer of next year.
Thanks

I'm there for a week at end September so hope you get a lot of replies I'll update when I'm back

Great, plenty of red Dear, killer whales, seals just to name a few. What's your set up??

I'm going to Glenbeg and mull for 10 days. I'm mainly taking landscapes and taking my Nikon D810 with a selection of lenses but my big lens will be Nikon 200-500mm lens

I've been looking into this lens and many others, what's your thoughts on it? Really stuck on what zoom to get, looking at sigma and Tamron 150-600, Nikon 200-500 and 80-400
Need a new body too, only got the base d3200 which as been fine to get me started, but looking at the d7200 maybe even going ff with the d600

Only had the lens for a few months and not had that much use to date but what use its had I've got no complaints.
Build its like a tank and solid and the images are spot on and I would recommend the 200-500mm to anyone.

I had my first visit there last Spring:

I had a good experience with the otter walk by Mull Magic. (http://www.mullmagic.com/otter-watching-mull.html) Unfortunately I wasn't satisfied with my photos for reason of heat-haze but we got to watch an otter for a long time. MullBirds (http://www.mullbirds.com/) has a lot of information. Birdwatching on Mull and Iona by Sexton and Snow is a good overview of the island but don't bother with The Wildlife of Mull by Butler and Levin (generic, little location advice).

And an obligatory photo from the Whitetailed eagle boat trip:

If you don't see otters on Mull, you're not looking! Golden Eagles however, can be more elusive. Lots of places to see them, but not necesarilly close. The small car park overlooking the three lochs at Glen More is a good place to watch out for them. I had one fly over the car to the extent that I could throw a stone at it, but I doubt that happens often. Mull is much better for Hen Harrier and SEO, not to mention White Tailed Eagle, which are far more overt. Enjoy!

We've seen otters at Grasspoint near Craignure, as well as owls and WTE there.
