Is this worth the money?

150cm is quite large... in a normal room you'll be against the ceiling frequently and still not have enough height. It's really too large for a single speedlight, but something like an AD300 would work well.

I hadn't realised that I'd selected the 150cm, I'd like something around 90cm/3ft that doesn't break the bank.

I should have said that I'm looking for something for head shots, preferably using a speedlight rather than Studio Flash.

That should work well enough... about max for a speedlight in that type of design (and it probably still won't be entirely even). For the most part, I don't think there's much to separate the cheap from the expensive except long term durability. It doesn't include a grid, but sometimes the included grid doesn't really do much and it may be a long time before you find a need for a grid.

Thanks Steven.

It only has 8 ribs, which means that the light goes every which way but where it needs to go. It isn't a real beauty dish. Get one that has 16 ribs

This Lencarta Beauty Dish is similar, but maybe better for you. It's 80cm, a rounder shape, comes with two diffuser panels and grid. Use without the deflector with a speedlite plus both diffusers, on widest zoom setting (without the wide panel) for maximum brightness and even coverage.

You'll also need one of these to attach the flashgun

Why? You'd be better off with a studio head. They're not expensive, with something like a Lencarta Smartflash-2 around £100. Great little unit. Then you won't have to buy that £20 speedlite adapter either.

Studio heads have bright modelling lamps so you can see what the light is doing, they recharge fast (surprisingly important for portraiture), and they have plenty of poke when you need it. If you have mains power available, studio heads win every which way and open the door to a professional lighting system

Just to add to the above.

If you want a softbox, buy a softbox, not a crappy collapsible beauty dish. A softbox for a speedlight is cheap and readily available with an s type bracket included.

If you want a beauty dish that'll double up as a softbox, and is collapsible, buy the Lencarta.

If you want to learn to light and you have mains power available, get a studio flash, the advantages are massive for the small cost.

Thanks Richard and Phil, I had been looking at the SmartFlash-2 which is currently pre-order only and they're awaiting stock and I've already have a basket of items for Lencarta, SmartFlash2, 80cm beauty and wavesync just waiting for it to be in stock before commiting.
