hmmm would be interesting wouldnt it

$10K eh... How much do medium formats with digi backs start at?

23 mill pixels in the next model is highly probable I reckon given that the last increase was from 11+ mill to 16+ million, so I don't think the speculation there is at all unrealistic. I don't see myself hankering after one, but it will lure a lot of studio types away from medium format no doubt.

It might if canon bring out a whole new series of lenses for it. MF lenses struggle to deal with 22mp packed into a 645 sensor. Even canon's best glass will fall flat on it's face trying to get near the resolution needed for that many megapixies in 35mm size.

There woud seem to be loads of snappers out there with 1ds II's who bought a 5d as a back up camera and prefer the quality in many situations. Looks like the 12mp mark is about the sensible limit for the current crop of canon lenses with 16 being just too far in some cases.

Where does that leave the idea of a 22mp EOS.....

I think they'd be better off going for true 16 bit capture rather than this mp glory that they have up untill now.

I quite agree Daz, the pixel chase has become a bit of a nonsense now really.

I'm not convinced the lines will merge - I'm still pretty sure sports photographers and studio/fasion guys will get different cameras...

but then personally I'm eagerly awaiting the 350D replacement, and hoping it sucks :o

I don't think the 350D will get a makeover for quite some time yet..

But thats just my opinion..:p

Good point there about the 16bit capture being the way to go.
