Is this set up ok?

Hey guys, well i bought my body and standard 198-55mm lens a while ago back in February however as i am moving down to London soon for university i went and splashed out on a new lens and a wide angle lens and bag whilst i was in New York basically trying to take advantage of the cheap prices.
However i believe i got ripped off, but hey most people do at least once in their lives.

This is what i have now, i am still very noob in the world of cameras and photography and would like your opinions and advice on what else i could do with buying to get going.

Camera canon 350D
1gb stick (thinking of upgrading to 4gb)
18-55mm lens (standard)
EF 75-300mm canon zoom lens 1:4-5.6 III
Titanium super wide angle high resolution lens 0.42AFX AF
Canon Bag

I was thinking i could do with a tri pod now for night photography but i dont want anything to expensive, nor some cheap tacky thing my camera is just going to fall off.

Another question i have is, i just bought the 75-300mm lens is it supposed to be quite hard to zoom with at first, i mean the lens feels tight when zooming in with my left hand, it takes a bit of effort.

Also is there any filters, or flash or anything else i could do with having?
As well does anyone know where i can get lens caps from i need one for my wide angle because it keeps falling off its not very tight fit.

Also all together how much would you pay for this, taking into account the 75-300mm lens is not USM.

Welcome onboard
There are lots of people here who can give you good advice - my advice would be get an external flash - maybe the canon ex430 as it won’t be too big for your camera - the 550ex is much larger and the 580 maybe way too expensive.
I would get some more memory cards - I stick with sandisk III extreme and have found them to be 100% reliable and fast (although you can buy cheaper – stick with the well known brands). Additional batteries are always a good idea as well.

I’m not the best person to recommend a good tripod (I own 4!!) but I would recommend that you buy one with a quick release plate. I like manffrotto but there are many out there – you need to think what you will use it for, how much weight you are going to put on it (from you current list not much) and how far you are going to carry it.

As for cost – well you have brought your kit, and you will always find prices cheaper AFTER you buy kit…..

Save a little and get the best tripod you can afford. If you buy a cheap one at the very best you will just end up replacing it pretty fast with a more expensive one. Better to spend £130-ish on something like a Manfrotto 190PRO (or whatever the current model is called - there's an x in there somewhere!) and a decent ball head (I have the 486RC2 head on mine but your kit set up is far lighter than mine so you'd get away with its little brother, the 484RC2), now, than spend £40 on a cheaper model and end up upgrading and spending the extra cash in the end anyway. I agree with the coment above regarding the quick release plate by the way - an essential that.

Extra batteries and memory cards needn't set you back a fortune - if you're not using your cards for anything high speed or too demanding (long bursts of shots for example) then something like a Sandisk Ultra II card would suit you fine - I bought a 4gb one from 7 day shop yesterday for £17.99. While you're at 7 day shop's website then they also do twin packs of compatible batteries that will fit your 350D for £9.99. GThey work just fine and represent a massive saving on the price of the Canon originals!
