Is this any good??

Only ever looked at these in a canon fit but I can't imagine this one would be any different, they are not a great performer, fine if you having nothing else and only a tiny budget but not a long term investiment. If I was you I'd be looking out for one of the famed minolta beercans a much better lens and one you'll keep for years.

instead of searching for lenses on Ebay, look at old minolta film cameras. One of my previous posts had a minolts with 2 AF lenses, and it sold for £45. It wasn;t a beercan, but guestimates were that one lens was £100+ value. HTH.

Lawrie

Went for £80 or so last night that one Lawrie, so still a bit outside my price range for now :)

Still looking for a cheapy good one, anyone got any ideas?

If your budget really is that tight you may well be best off getting something like that sigma in this case I think any lens is better than no lens. If you buy cheap second hand stuff you'll never loose much even if you do end up selling it on. Personally I'd go on a massive savings drive and wait until I could afford the beercan simply because I've found with everything I buy thats really I cheap I land up buying the expensive one a few months later anyway.

Think thats the way I might have to go :)

Check out dyxum.com lens DB. I personnally don't tend to go for any lenses with a score of less than 4. The beercan is a beast, I did not realise how big until I actually got one.

The other choice is one of these Minolta's, they tend to go for £30 - £50 on Ebay, they are much smaller and give quite resonable results.
