Is this a sign that my monitor is on its way out.

So today I switched my monitor on and the left most third of the screen has an affect that I can only describes as lines of pixels moving from the top to the bottom.

The rest of the screen is unaffected.

To rule out my GPU being the issue I plugged the monitor into the mobo to use the onboard graphics. Thankfully the issue is still there so I know my GPU is fine.

Has anyone else had or seen something similar? If so what is it and is it basically the first signs that the monitor is on its way out?

The monitor in question is a Dell U2312hm.

Thanks

it sounds like the rectifier is going I think it is called that.
it gives that sort of issues, like failing lines etc.

how are you connecting it?

worth trying if you can a different connection type , old VGA, DVI or HDMI

The monitor is connected by display port.

It doesn't have Hdmi but does have DVI.
Will try that as I'm sure I have a cable kicking about somewhere

The dell monitors tend to have a self-test mode, where it blinks through a solid screen of colours. If it's failing there, I'd be quite certain it's the monitor.

Ran the self test and on the white screen the left hand side was more obvious that it had scan lines and a pink tinge in to the bargain.

Looks like it is time for a new monitor I guess!
