Hope you can all help. I bid on a 1dmk2n and didnt win however the seller got in touch with the auction below saying i can have it at this price. His email is just a hotmail.com address and i can't see it as being legit so am steering clear? What do you all think? Obviously if its real any of you could nick a bargain but i get the sense something isnt right?

That's not ebay. It's a pure copy and scam.

Keep well away from it. Even the url isn't ebay.

edit: i could be wrong though as the item number seems valid(ish)

complete scam, bigtime

My norton 360 antivirus wont even let me open that page, tells me it is fraudulent!!

From what it does show me it is blatantly fake, doesnt even look like ebay.

was it a second chance offer through ebay, that link isn't a scam, it's an ebay link, when they put the new search engine up the urls changed, they're now shop.ebay or buyitnow.ebay etc, when I clicked the ling it toook me to the listing for the camera but I was logged into my account as normal so the link isn't a scam

I'm not saying the buyer isn't trying to con you if he expects you to buy it outside of ebay

This guy has been a member for 4 years,
he has 100% feedback (147)
He has a hotmail.com email address, so what, so do I. (has anyone emailed him)?
The item number is genuine.

So what part of all this is fake?

or am I missing something?

I can't see anything odd here per se.

Did he give you a Second Chance offer through Ebay?

I would guess he bid on his own item to get as high a price as possible .. now he's won it, he's offering it to second place. very common on the bay despite them saying it's been stamped out.

Email back and ask if the lens is still for sale (140277263376) as it was "bought" by the same person....

The site isn't part of ebay, its nothing to do with it.

Lots of the links on the site go back to *real* ebay pages. Apart from the buy-it-now section - how "Odd".

If something looks like a scam you can't rely on feedback as the basis of the scam may have been someone hacking the poor guys account.

I was thrown as i offered £800 for it as the original auction was a buy it now or best offer of £1200. He rejected it and his counter offer was £1100. Then today i got the email saying ok i'll sell it too you for £850 instead. He then asked for my Ebay username so he could see if i won this new auction.

What made me sure it was a scam was the page looked odd for some reason and original auction had paypal. And in his emails he has talked about getting me not being concerned by the ebay fees?? And this auction doesn;t use paypal. And again he had said in his first email he will only use paypal??

Think i'll go and get another 1dmk2 from MPB instead.

Thank you everyone for you're help and sorry i posted in wrong forum. Will also start trying to post more, but i'm not a great photographer;)

it does look like a scam

the ebay listing is legit, but the person contacting you isnt necessarily.

the link:
http://buyitnow.listings-ebay.co.uk/
forwards you to the motors part of US ebay.. now why would it do that?

check who owns the domain listings-ebay.co.uk i bet its not ebay

he seems to be putting a lot of details on ebay if it is a con, a lot of people push the button then can't find the funds, it's been a couple of days perhaps the buyer has dropped out.

When I click on the link it has pics of a lens and he is selling a camera body? Is this the same seller?

Probably an affiliated link.

It looks legit to me.
But he might have been shilling and won the auction himself that's why he's given you second chance offer.
And maybe he's trying to persuade you to buy it off ebay to avoid fees, or maybe the camera is broken then you won't get a refund, or the camera works fine but its stolen.

I would personally look somewhere else.
