Just shot a roll of FP4 with a Nikon FA

At 28 shots I started to get a bit worried.

At 30 shots I was convinced something was badly wrong and blasted off a few more random shots of nothing.

At 36 shots I gave up and rewound the film.

I've just developed it and I do indeed have 36 shots.

35 of them are rubbish of course, as usual, but blimey....

I had to double check the box to make sure it was indeed a 24 shot roll.

Do they do FP4 in 36 shots?

I'm just wondering if it could have been mis-packaged.

Interesting.

I just checked my order and it's for 5 boxes of 24 exp.

I've got 3 boxes of this order left so I'll not worry if they go well beyond 24.
 
It's an FA so you've got a rewind crank - take up the slack when you load the film and each time you wind on you should see the crank turn as the film comes off the roll. Simples :)

Err, yes I know.:)

It was just so unexpected to get that many shots.
 
Bargain if they're mispackaged :). Though when I first read the thread my reaction was to reply with "That's nowt, I normally get at least 37." :D
 
Donkey's years since I shot FP4, but it was my favourite B & W film 40 odd years ago. I often got 37 or 38 exposures on a nominally 36 roll.
 
You only need to worry if the counter gets to 42. It means there was no film in the camera and you have wasted the last couple of hours... apparently!

No, her Dad obviously knows his vinyl as well as he knows his film cameras, and has taught her well!
 
Slightly off topic, you might enjoy this post I wrote in another life about hearing the first cuckoo in spring... nothing to do with cameras, but still.
