Is this a good price for a 40D?

I've been talking to a guy who is selling a 40D on ebay.
He purchased it in Nov 2007, the shutter count is 23,799 and he is asking £400 for it.
Is this a good price for age of the camera?
I've not outgrown my 450D yet but I am quite tempted if it's a good deal.
 
quite a few sell for around £400, i'm sure you could find one with a much lower count than that for £400
 
Seems about par for the course. I've just picked one up for £450...4,000 shots and an extra battery.

23k sounds a lot in 3 months to me?

Where on earth can you find a 40D & 17-85 for £400? I see the 17-85 go for just under £200 regularly so that puts the body at £200?, no chance. If you come to sell your gear please give me a shout first.
 
I sold my minty one with less than 1k actuations for £400 a while back.

If its 15 months old, its pre-price hike, so that seems fair to me.
 
When I sell mine (same age) it will be for about £450 but it only has about 12,000 actuations from me, and whatever went on it when it was calibrated, so you could do better although its not far out pricewise.

Xup, thanks for the offer I am really tempted.
However, my good lady has raised a point about my recent spending (new 10-22m, bag, hood, cpl filter, 2 x SDHC cards and a gorillapod).
I'll have to wait until after the holiday before I consider an upgrade.
I think about trying 'I could sell the 450D' but as it was a birthday present from her under a year ago, I didn't want to push my luck :D
