is this a good lens and at the right price ?????/?

let me know your thoughts

'Tis a very good lens. I loved mine to bits.......
Nice and sharp, built like a tank. Awesome 1:1 shots to be had, as well as great portraits.
As it's only 50mm though, you need to be very close to the subject for a true 1:1, which is ok, unless it's a creature of any kind!!!

As far as I'm concerned, that's not a bad price.
Not the deal of the century, but if it's a lens you've been after for a while, then yes, not too bad a price.

Also considering the price increases of new lens's, second hand prices are going up too, so on that note, then it's not a bad deal.

HTH.

I'm sure there must be many people who can't be bothered to have to click on the link just to find out what Chris is talking about. I'm usually one of them. But I must be feeling charitable tonight because i'm saving you the effort: it's a Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro (Pentax fit).

I don't have any direct experience of this lens. It's a true 1:1 macro, which is good, but with a focal length of only 50mm I'd imagine you'd have to be really close to your subject to get 1:1. Reviewers on Fred Miranda say that it's sharp and well-built, but the AF is noisy and slow and not reliable in poor light.

According to Camera Price Buster, it can be had for £193 new. Whether or not that makes £150 a good price for a used lens is probably quite a personal decision.
