to attach the Canon handstrap and the neckstrap at the same time? :suspect1:

I love the comfort and convenience of the handstrap for actually taking pics, but it's less convenient than carrying the camera on the neck strap around your neck or on a shoulder. If the neckstrap could be clipped on and off leaving the hand strap in place it would be ideal. :Ponders:

You were quite right Ian there is little metal clip on the handstrap which I'd completely overlooked and is obviously there for just this purpose. :embarasse

It's obviously intended to fit the crappy Canon neckstrap and that would mean having to unthread the neck strap everytime you wanted to take it off or having it hanging in the way all the while.

The Op-tech neckstrap provides a better solution as it can be unclipped. The only snag with this is that the straps remaining attached to the camera are a bit of an annoyance still being fairly long and dangly (ooer!) and if you shorten them right down then the neckstrap is too short when fitted. Gah!!

I need to get another neckstrap anyway so there may be a better solution from Op-tech or elsewhere.

I'd highly recommend the E1 strap. I know many people don't like it and when I first got mine I was a bit disappointed, but when it's adjusted properly - fairly loose, it's very comfortable, and the chances of dropping the camera are negligable. I love it now, the camera feels safe when you're holding it with no straps to get in the way.
 
i understand what these hand straps do, and nikon make a dedicated one for the D70 ( at £60 )

but i find a good strap better than any hand-strap ?


i dont wear it round my neck, but over one shoulder ( yes like a bag ) and i find that way i can tension the strap round my elbo for steadying the camera when holding it to the eye

just me i suppose

btw, its a thin strap i have, not a wide one, i find them more irritating , and the ' neopreen stretch ' ones that take the bounce shock out of your neck arnt much better than wide ones either....

You mean the ends of the main strap Ian - the wide bit? Tried that - it's way too short then . :confused:

I hear ya -in fact that's how I like to carry one camera, with the other around the neck to stop 'em banging together.

It's just great sometimes to have the facility of the handstrap on it's own.
 
LOL I've always had two - it's just the first time I've had two DSLRs. It is handy sometimes and saves a lot of lens swapping. I used to cover weddings with two bodies, one fitted with a mid range zoom and one with a wide angle. :woot:
