I'm currently learning Photoshop on my digital arts course, but I gather the full version's expensive, and downloading the 30 day trial and cracking it once the 30 days expires would obviously be illegal.

I know about and have used GIMP, but I want something similar that's easier to use.

Can anyone help?

Does PhotoShop Express work on Chrome? IIRC it works on Android (but I could be wrong).

AFAIK Adobe used to have student prices for PS and other programs. The only constraint as I recall reading about was that you had to provide evidence of being a student and that once the course was completed there was a special price to upgrade. NB though some comments I think I read that that latter step was not policed but that was in the pre-CC days

If you are a Linux user, freebies include the well regarded Darktable and RawTherapee, both competent packages.

For simple image tagging, resizing, colour changes etc, the package gThumb is an easy editor with a limited range of features.

darktable and Rawtherapee are the clear choices. Both are quite excellent, I just prefer darkatble (objectively it is probably a bit better, too). As both are free, try them and see what you think. But GIMP is a vital tool for "trad" airbrushing, etc....and has some seriously cool features once you find them.

Go enjoy the amazing things OS people make available for free. Why they do, I have no idea, but......

if you really are a student - then Photoshop 2022 is very reasonable in price

Les :)

Pinta is worth a look and is in the software store. It has layers and levels but will lack many of the advanced features in Gimp.

For photography it's still worth discovering how to use the more advanced tools in Gimp.
Photoshop 2022 will not work according the Adobe.
