is the Sigma DC 18 - 200mm lens a Good all round lens

Hi all I am looking to get an all round lens for my eos 1000D and have been looking at the Sigma DC 18 - 200mm lens, do any of you on here own one as I would like to know if it's what I'm looking for?

Only you can really answer that. Lots of people have that lens and are perfectly happy with it, others will find that it has loads of distortion and is fairly soft at most focal lengths.

Do it all lenses are always a compromise and you have to decide if you can live with them...

Thanks i see what you mean it just i don't want to keep luging round 3 lenses and after looking at the reviews i think i will get this fingers crossed it word for me.

And there is a plus i have found one on Ebay for 120 quid coming from a good home so can't be bad.
