Is the hp elitebook 8740w still a good editing laptop?

Hi, I'm looking for a laptop for editing when I'm away from home. I only have £500 so I was looking at a refurbished HP Elitebook 8740w. I've read good reviews but I have no clue what to look for to make sure the screen will be good for editing. Can anyone please offer me some advice? Either on the laptop or what to look out for? Thanks!
 
I used an HP Elitebook when I was working and was a good machine, but I mostly used an external screen with it. Been looking at getting a refurbed one for the missus (I don't have a laptop at the moment).

Why did you use an external screen? Is the screen not that good for editing? For example getting the correct tones and colours?
 
Because I mainly used it in the office, so it was connected to a docking station with a 23" external screen and Bluetooth keyboard.
