Hi

I'm just finishing the last of my shopping spree with camera stuff. Was going to get a 430EX II for £200, but am wondering if I really need to spend this much on a flash?

Main use at the moment will just be for nightclub photography, I'll want to do off camera stuff using a cord with my 600D.

I will in the future want to mess around doing some portrait work, but not any time soon really. Is there a cheaper alternative as I'm trying to budget for a Canon 17-55 2.8 but at the moment its just not possible.

I am far from an expert, but I have both the 600d and the 430EXII and they work well together.

You mention using a cord for off camera flash - It is not needed, the 430EXII works off camera just by changing some settings.

I have only just started playing but it seems to work well...

Cheers, thats gutting seeing as I have bought a cord off ebay yesterday for £15!

Think I'm just gonna get the 430EX II.

I think it should still be useful as from what I understand it is operated by the flash on the 600D so you can sometimes still see reflections in the image. I am sure someone else would be able to give more details.
