Is The 40D Being Scrapped?

As per the title... am trying to find out if the 40D is being scrapped. Is the 50D it's replacement?

According to Canon, the 50D is to sit above the 40D which will still be available for some time to come yet, basically, it sits between the 40D and 5D mk2

Canon said the two are running side by side at the moment, but new releases will happen at faster rate - yearly rather than 18 month intervals.

So, when the 50D is replaced, my predictiton is the 60D will take place of the 50D and the 50D will drop to where the 40D is now and the 40D will be discontinued.

This won't happen until October 2009. The 40D remains a fine camera and will do so after that.

The 50D is supposed to be a 'sister' body to the 40D.

The fiftyD is purely to fill the gap between 40D and 5D because nikon had it too easy in that sector, and it was a bit of a rush job at that.... i was waiting for it to come out and wasnt that impressed so i bought a 5Dmk1 instead...
