Is the 135/2.0L USM worth double the 100/2.0 USM?

No
I've seen the photo's from the 135L and just wow - what a stunning lens. When I saw the price, I was shocked; it was half as what I expected. The bokeh at that range is amazing.

Might be a definite purchase with a 5D MKI or II...

However, the 100/2.0 USM. It's only £260. Is the picture quality that much different?

Having read reviews, the 135L is considered of of the best L's Canon produce, so paying twice as much feels like a good investment, and hence 80/20 towards the 135 atm.

Ideas?

I can't really fault the 135L....very snappy focus allied to sharpness and good contrast...all packaged up in an unobrtusive body.

Go for it.

:agree: The 135L is one of those lenses that just makes you say "wow" every time you use it.

Pxl8 and myself are feeling a little guilty here.....would you allow us to chip in with the difference ?

... seems to be a daily occurrence

I made a costs spreadsheet last night. Might have to sell the missus :D

Bob: Can I have that in writing? My finance officer will be in touch!

Juan: was checking out the second hand prices, seems new is the most logical way on this lens (but then again, unless its a steal, new is always my choice for warranty).

agh!!! you guys are not helping me here! this lens is on the top of my almost affordable next purchase list, and this kind of talk is not what i need just now....... all i can say is that it's a good job the new 1d's are not out till next year!

I find 135mm a really good length on FF as well (although I only have the 135 f/2.8 it's probably my favourite lens).

he 100 f2 suffers from horrendous CA wide open but is a sharp lens and very compact and light. the 135 f2 is a stunning lens is it worth the extra cash is up to you (Ihave one for sale £510 posted lol)

I had the 100 f2 for a day, took it back and got the 135 f2 L instead.
