Looks like the rest of my weekend is shot to hell.

My car broke down on me tonight, so its totally out of action till I can get it fixed next week.

I think someone is trying to tell me that I shouldnt shoot ice-hockey. Ive been to about five games since I started going a few months ago, and in that time my car has had problems on the way to the match on THREE occasions!

Maybe I should go back to motorsport. Its a shame there is virtually none this time of year.

Just dont take your eyes off the puck when you do actually make it! :|

What a bummer Joe, 3 times out of 5 is pretty unlucky :( I bet you were really looking forward to using your new camera tonight too  That bloody German engineering mate - it's no good! Roll on the motorsport season eh?

No motorsport Joe
there must be some motocross or rallying going on somewhere around you. Maybe your car will 'approve' of that :)

Sounds like my attempts at photography in general - couldnt even make the York meet last week cause I got struck down with flu - again :(

Sometimes wonder myself if the big man dont want me doing this photog lark

bummer joe, maybe next time BUY the lucky heather and/or pegs, DONT tell her to f off?

Buy a Toyota Yaris, Better late than never..:D

definately waves of sympathy from here - had the AA out to mine last night (lovely chap called Gary who, by coincidence, came to my last clio when some ignorant **** smashed the mirror off and left it dangling loose about three years ago - AND remembered the fact!) and it seems that it's developed a fault with the power steering (Like, at parking speed, you can hardly turn the wheel!) so has to go into the garage (lord knows how as I have to be at work!) tomorrow. :'( My parents have to take me to Stansted this evening to pick up a 48 hour hire-car and I just have to hope it's fixed after that!

What's the problem with your Joe?

Hi guys, thanks for the sympathy

i think a pulley on the belt that drives the alternator/waterpump/powersteering has seized. This means the car is undriveable.

As it was late yesterday I had the breakdown service bring the car to my house as I didnt want to leave it unsecure at some random garage.

This means I will have to shell out for someone to pick it up on Monday morning. Anyone know how much this might cost?

I have a work appointment monday morning at 9:30 but I'm fairly sure I wont make it. I have to make arrangements for the car to get picked up and fixed, wait it to be picked up, and then try to organise a hire car or courtesy car (if I take it to BMW this could be an option).

On top of everything else going wrong with it I aint a happy bunny! :(

Good luck with yours Witch. :)

Edit: And no, I didnt make it to ice hockey. I got 5 miles down the road, and this happened. The battery light came on and I lost power steering. I managed to drive it a couple of hundred yards and then pulled into a pub car park.

When the power steering blew up on my car (while pulling into my driveway) it cost me £48 for the local garage to pick it up + repair bill.

Right, well the car is now fixed (BMW eventually managed to get it done on Wednesday).

Cost from BMW: £198
Hire car cost £130(ish)
Recovery truck cost: £47

Approaching £400, just cos two belts were worn out!

Anyway, its nice to have the beast back! :D

I now need to book it into my usual specialist and have the long list of other things seen to! :(

Glad to hear you've got it back Joe but sorry about the big bill though :(

I've been told I won't get mine back from the body shop till the end of February! Oh and I've got to cough up £400 insurance excess :'(

At least you've had another M3 to drive around in! I had to hire a Chevrolet Lacetti for three days!

Will you not be able to reclaim the excess tho?

A Chevrolet Lacetti? WTF is one of them
Yeah I should be able to reclaim the excess but, of course, it'll take time

Surely you can't break down AGAIN! No one could be THAT unlucky.......could they

Good luck!

Have the AA turned up yet?

:D :D :D

Best bit was when the puck hit my lens! It just bounced off though, no damage done! :p

Good to hear the curse has lifted :D

The curse is broken!

Im back in one piece, and so is the car!!!!!!

Great game too, the roughest I've seen so far!!! :D

It was the first time out with the D200 ,and boy is it good! :D

Glad you and the car made it Joe  Sounds like a close call with the puck there  Looks like you've got you're luck back ;) Looking forward to seeing some of the shots you got :D
