Hi folks,
I am doing a photoshoot in a National Trust Castle this coming weekend and have been told that I can use any lighting, as long as its not Halogen. Please can someone tell me whether my Elincrom D-Lite 2's have Halogen bulbs or another type? It is the flash light I am interested in and not the modelling lamp. I have looked all through my lights manuals and around the net too - with no luck!
I will be really grateful for any input regarding my question. :help:
Cheers - Becky

Nope they're not Halogen.. your safe :)

I assume the reason they won't allow the use of Halogen is the heat issues?!?

Thanks for this...
Yes, I guess they are keen to protect the historic surroundings, fair enough!
I'm going to do some food photography in the kitchens, trying to be sympathetic to the period (built 1910-1920). Any idea what bulbs are fitted, if not Halogen?

I'm sure you will be fine with D Lites. I agree with the above. I'm sure its because of the heat given of by halogen lights. They may want to see that any equipment that you are going to run off the mains have been PAT tested though.
Many years ago when I was an assistant to an industrial photographer using Halogen lights in a newly refurbished pub I was bouncing the light from a Halogen light of the wall. We started to smell burning and turned round to see the new wallpaper had caught fire due to the heat being given of by the Halogen light. That was a lesson I’ll never forget. And why I always have insurance.

Thanks for all your replies here folks. you can see from my photos on flickr (address below), that I have just added the shots taken at Castle Drogo in Devon. The use of my Elincrom D-Lite's was fine and, as you can see, produced some ok results!
