Before I buy Lightroom 4.4 could any expert out there just cast an eye over my PC system and tell me if I've got what it takes please. Adobe recommend at least 4 gig of memory and that's all I seem to have. If I should need more what kind shall I get, a link would be handy.

I suppose the obvious thing to do would be get Lightroom 4.4 and see how it goes, but after reading on here that some peoples runs very slow how will I know? I have nothing to compare it to.:shrug:

lightroom doesn't use much memory, even the 64 bit version very rarely goes anywhere above 2.5gb usage. that said 4gb for an entire system is a bit low by todays standards.

go to the crucial site and enter your machine details, itll tell you what you need.

otherwise LR is quite CPU and disk intensive.

download the trial and open up task manager, look at the graphs while you use it and see what resources, if anything, it struggles with.
 
I'd suggest you run the trial and see. LR varies a lot from machine to machine, I've see two identical models run totally differently, I've also seen it run like a dog on a seriously high spec computer and work like a dream on a low end model.
 
It is according to those in the no, better not to mix and match memory so if you buy the 2 X 4 GB remove ALL your 1 GB sticks, I use 8 GB of ram with PS CS 6 and Lightroom 4 without problems on a win 7 machine.

That's right. ASSUMING you have 4 memory slots that is (some cheaper PCs only have 2). Ideally, you want the same speed and same clock delays (the 7-7-7-24 or CL=9) in the description. You definitely need the same voltage though!

CPU-Z (google it ;)) should tell you what you already have installed (I have mine overclocked so it tells me I have 667MHz RAM running at 800MHz with CL=9 or 9-9-9-24 if you prefer) .
 
id always suggest running the same sticks in each slot, like andy said about the same speed and ram timings. its just easier to get sticks that play happy together if they from the same kits.
