Is it possible to transfer Lightroom keywords?

I currently use LR but have been contemplating moving to something cheaper. I use keywords quite a lot to organise and find things and one of the things about moving to something else is moving the keywords. I think it's possible to write keywords in the meta data on export but I would want to keep them with the RAW files.

2. CTRL+S (Or metadata>save metadata to file)
3. Profit! All metadata is now saved with the raw file!
