Is it just me, or...?

You know when a flash fires in auto-TTL mode, you have no idea what power it's actually working at? You know if the exposure is correct, but is that at full power, or at 1/4 or 1/16th output? What about the other units in a multi-flash set-up?

Is it only me, or would you like to know? I do, because it'll tell me what my recharge times are likely to be, and how many shots I can get in quick sequence. Also, if I want to switch to manual mode, it'll tell me what output to set on each unit for the same result. It's golden info for learning as well.

The master/commander unit already knows the outputs, because the camera has just told it exactly what settings to fire at. So it seems simple to implement, unless I'm missing something. And really useful, but AFAIK, no flash units have this feature.

Not really worried Hoppy TBH. Most of the time when I chose to use ttl it'll be because I have fast moving subjects. The flash power will vary shot to shot anyway.

I would love if the exif data would say flash power, even if it was just for a single flash. As you say it's extra information that would assist people wanting to learn

I think the B1 shows TTL output (in TTL), if not I know it locks the TTL value so if you switch to Manual after a TTL shot it shows the last power setting used.

Yes both the B1 and B2 show the power of the TTL flash.

I thought it did, I knew it copied the used value over to M mode, I'd like a B1 (set), I shoot ELB400 (action and HS), shame they are such a bulk, joy of the ELB is small heads.

Ah yes, I see that now. In TTL mode, the flash output power is displayed on the head. And you can lock that. Simples. Cool feature, not sure how I've missed that but is there anything else out there?

Cheers.

I'm with Hugh, TTL is for times when conditions/power requirements are constantly changing...
I suppose copying TTL settings into manual might be a quick way to get close.
