There is a cool looking bounce card made by a Hong Kong design studio.
It's a fancy looking piece of plastic, but does the job just as well as many other.
I wanted to share about the find and see what you guys think of this product.

Here is a review: F16 P45A-001 flash reflector

they are linking to manufacturers and retailers, you are linking to your own site, it does look like self-promotion

How do you know they are not affiliated? Any link to Canon or Nikon site can be done by their employees :). Anything, really, can be questioned.
I do agree that some posts are more spam-looking them others.

I do choose to deliver information in the format I like. And no forum gives me the freedom that independent site does.

I'm reading posts. I write posts. I ask questions. I answer question (Well, I'm new here and haven't been posting a lot yet, but mainly because you guys drive me away)

I often see people copying their entire posts, including images from one place to another, because question are being asked over and over. Having a dedicated site helps with that too.

And, OK, let's say, I AM promoting my OWN web-site. So what?
Do you feel used? Are you concerned that some guy nobody knows ripping off your benefits? Your hard earned traffic?
But the less posts you have the less interesting you are. Spam of course has to be eliminated. But relative posts, meaningful conversations...

I think the point is that there are advertisers who pay to promote their businesses on here (As well as being contributors), why should you be able to do it for free?

If you are promoting your own product - I wouldnt say there is anything particularly wrong with that assuming you followed the forum rules, however the manner in which your opening post is worded suggests that its a product that you simply stumbled across on the web. If this is your product (or you are marketing it for sale) then your post is a little dishonest.

I certainly agree!
But this is NOT my product. I'm not from Hong Kong :)
I love flash photography, which includes the modifiers.
I like experimenting. I find new things. I share with others. I learn from others... A LOT.
For example this diffuser I found on shutterasia.com, which is just another forum community.

<The site your advertising is the one in your sig, which suggests you're trying to sell your own product and as above, in a particularly dishonest way.>

EDIT: my bad I didn't realise it was some sort of blog, but in all honesty, forums are more about sharing information within the site, not linking to others. You could easily have written all that info ie copied & pasted into a thread to inform other members that way instead?

A-ha! Now I see what the fuzz is all about.
If that's the way you guys run things, then you're are in a pickle :)
Good luck filtering the posts then ! That's must have been a nightmare worrying that posts like mine do not pay .
In fact they do pay you in the form of additional traffic and those clicks you're are getting from the Google banners all around.

Huh? What am I selling again? :bonk:
I have NO product to sell. Why would you think that?

Calm down, calm down... no-one is picking on you... just follow the rules and your posts will be welcomed.

Whether you're selling anything or not, I love your style of writing :)

More power to you I say

I think Green Li is getting a bit of a bum rap here. Fair enough he tends to link to his own site but if it's useful then fair enough. Are we really scared of losing people to his site or is this a bit of an angry mob approach?

I don't see what he's doing any worse than people linking back to their flickr page to "see a higher res version".

I know I've just opened myself up but lets back off a little.

I just like to click on a thread and read all the neccessary info there without having to click on another link to get to the info, that's all. I'm sure there's others too. Especially since I browse the site a lot on my iPhone, and clicking something to then have to click on something else is just a little tedious if it's going a bit slow :)
