While I was driving home on thursday evening, I saw a scruffy little cardboard sign at the side of the road which read

"Tarrot Card Reading, Next Right
Call xxxx xxx xxx"

The sign, while a normal site along the arterial A routes of this land of green and grey struck me as being more than a little ironic.

If the tarrot card reader was any good with their alleged skill, surely they'd not need to bother putting a cruddy little sign out on the grass verge as they'd have foreseen the people finding them.

It's a funny old world

I remember walking down the prom whilst on duty one night and some clown had stuck a notice on the fortune teller's front door saying "Closed due to unforeseen circumstances", least I hope it was some clown :bang:

it really does amaze me though, because people will pay for it :bang:

I don't know anything about irony..........................I make my wife do it.

I like fortune tellers if you treat it as a bit of light entertainment and don't take it seriously. On the plus side it makes you think about what you want from life, where you're at and where you want to be instead of perpetually running round a hamster wheel.

On the negative side I worry about lonely folk, the bereaved and people who are detached from reality as they can be vulnerable prey.

Maybe she foresaw her customers getting lost and not being able to find her...? :)

Maybe they foresaw that people would pass and not 'come in', so put the sign out? ;)

Sure it wasn't Carrot Reader?
